Hitachi combines digital technology with infrastructure businesses. Its operations span information systems, energy, rail and industrial equipment, linking data, control systems and physical assets.
History and development
Hitachi's origins date to 1910, when Namihei Odaira developed domestic electric motors through work connected with Hitachi Mine's machinery operations. It became an independent company in 1920. Electrical machinery provided the foundation for later rail, energy, industrial and information-technology businesses.
