Sony Group operates gaming, music, film, electronics and image-sensor businesses. It combines entertainment content with technologies, products and network services worldwide.
History and development
Sony began on May 7, 1946, as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, established by Masaru Ibuka, Akio Morita and colleagues. It adopted the Sony name in 1958. Expansion from electronics into music, film and games created a group combining technology and content rather than remaining solely an equipment manufacturer.
