Denso develops automotive parts and systems, including thermal management, powertrains, electrification and safety technology. It also applies related technologies outside the vehicle industry.
History and development
Denso was established as Nippondenso on December 16, 1949, after separation from Toyota Motor. Automotive electrical components became the foundation for a wider range of vehicle systems. Its historical relationship with Toyota is rooted in that separation; Denso supplies technology rather than selling complete vehicles.
