Fast Retailing operates apparel brands including UNIQLO and GU. It coordinates product planning, production management and retail, selling everyday clothing through stores and online internationally.
History and development
Fast Retailing traces its roots to a men's clothing shop founded in 1949. The first Uniqlo store opened in Hiroshima in 1984, and the company adopted its present name in 1991. Its development connects a local retailer with a broader apparel business; Uniqlo's first-store date is not the date of the original business.
