Toyota Motor develops, manufactures and sells vehicles worldwide. Its business spans passenger and commercial vehicles, hybrids, battery-electric and fuel-cell vehicles, as well as financing and mobility services.
History and development
Toyota Motor was established in 1937 when the automotive division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works became independent. Kiichiro Toyoda led its automotive development, and the predecessor division produced the AA passenger car in 1936. Its roots therefore connect textile machinery with car manufacturing and later international production.
