Jibun Stocks

NIFTY 50 tracks 50 major Indian companies across multiple industries. It uses free-float-adjusted market-cap weighting and is a widely followed measure of India's large-cap stock market.

History and development

Nifty 50 launched on April 22, 1996, using November 3, 1995, as its base date and 1,000 as its base value. The base date therefore predates publication. Its selection of 50 major companies across industries has provided a stock-market perspective on India's economic development.
