History and development
The present Broadcom took shape in 2016 following Avago's acquisition of the earlier Broadcom. Several semiconductor-business lineages contribute to its heritage. The current group is therefore not simply one unchanged company since the original Broadcom's founding; acquisitions have shaped its technology and business scope.
