HDV is an ETF aiming to track the Morningstar Dividend Yield Focus Index. It holds about 75 US high-dividend companies selected with attention to financial strength and dividend sustainability.
History and development
HDV began on March 29, 2011, combining a US dividend-stock focus with financial-quality screening. It follows its own benchmark design, so the shared 'dividend ETF' category does not mean it holds the same companies as VYM or SCHD.

Comparing charts on this board
Compare HDV with SCHD, VYM and SPYD to examine differences in financial screening and dividend-stock selection. HDV-only strength invites investigation of its current sectors and holdings.
Oil can provide another lens: first check the fund's current energy exposure, then follow its response to oil moves. Combine the chart with the dated holdings rather than assuming a permanent sector mix.
